A metal speculum with an adjustable opening. It is inserted closed and then widened by degrees, holding the walls apart so that the inside can be seen and reached. Used beforehand as a dilator, it makes what follows easier. Being metal, it does not flex under pressure and can be cleaned thoroughly.
Lubricant type is not a constraint here, because nothing in a metal surface degrades on contact.
