A sealed toy can go in the bath — and, more importantly for most people, it can be washed properly under a running tap. Everything on this shelf is sealed against water.

What the ratings mean

IPX7 is the one to look for. It means the toy survives immersion in a metre of water for thirty minutes. That is a real specification, tested, and it covers everything most people want to do.

Splash-resistant or "water-resistant" means rinsing under a tap only. Not the bath.

Magnetic charging is the giveaway on a genuinely sealed toy. There is no port to let water in — the contacts are on the outside. Anything with an exposed USB socket is almost certainly not fully waterproof, whatever the listing implies.

Hygiene is the underrated reason

Bathing is the obvious use. The one that matters more day to day is cleaning.

A sealed toy can be washed thoroughly under running water with unscented soap, and rinsed until nothing remains. A toy that is only splash-resistant has to be wiped, and wiping does not reach seams, ridges or the base of a clitoral arm — exactly where residue collects.

If you use a toy regularly, that difference is worth more than the ability to take it into the bath.

What water does to the experience

Two things people are not warned about:

Water washes lubricant away. Water-based lubricant rinses off immediately in the bath — silicone-based is the only base that survives, and it must not touch a silicone toy. In practice, bath use with a silicone toy means accepting more friction.

Suction toys lose their seal. Air pulse stimulators need a seal against skin, and water gets between the mouth and the body. They work under water but noticeably less well.

One step up — the Moressa Ivy, travel-sized.
Mid-range — the Rewolution Rewobit.
Higher up — the Pretty Love Banana Geek, with an up-down mechanism.
Near the top — the Satisfyer G-Spot Flex 5.
The top — the Fantasy for Her tongue.

Care

Waterproofing does not remove the need to dry. Water left in a seam or around a button eventually finds its way in. Wash, rinse, dry fully, store dry.

Silicone surfaces mean water-based lubricant only. Bath water is not lubricant — it thins what is there.

Can I take it in the shower?

Any IPX7 toy, yes. Splash-resistant ones, rinsing only.

Does waterproof mean I can boil it?

No. Boiling is for solid silicone with no electronics. Heat destroys motors and batteries regardless of the seal.

Why does my waterproof toy feel weaker in the bath?

Water carries vibration away from the skin, and it removes lubricant. Both reduce the sensation.

Is magnetic charging better?

For waterproofing, yes — no port means nothing to let water in. It also means keeping track of a proprietary cable.
