The design has been around long enough that the good ones have solved its original problem: independent motors. Early rabbits ran both arms from one motor, which meant you couldn't adjust one without changing the other. Anything worth buying now controls them separately.
Fit is the deciding factor. The distance between the shaft and the external arm is fixed on most models, and bodies vary — which is why some people love a particular rabbit and others find the same one useless. Flexible arms and adjustable designs solve this.
