Four things happen at once here: seven vibration settings, seven tapping settings, four nod settings, and a row of rigid beads that travels up and down inside. Three speed settings control the beads. The combinations are the reason for the design rather than a bonus, and it charges over USB instead of taking batteries.

Water-based lubricant keeps the silicone intact, which a silicone-based one would not.
Give it a wash with gentle soap and warm water, and make sure it is dry before storing.
