Remote control means someone other than the person wearing it can change what it does. That is the whole appeal, and it is why this shelf is also the largest single group in the Couples range.

Two kinds of remote

  • Physical remote — a small handset, usually radio rather than Bluetooth. Reliable, instant, works without a phone, and has a range measured in metres rather than continents. Watchme Universal Control is a universal controller for the Watchme ecosystem.
  • App control — a phone connects over Bluetooth, and in some cases relays over the internet so distance stops mattering. More settings, more to go wrong, and a battery on both ends.

Neither is better. A handset is more dependable in the room; an app is the only option if you are not in it.

The Watchme ecosystem

A number of the products here are Watchme, which is worth understanding as a system rather than as individual toys. One controller pairs with several devices — Soft, Snowy, Jet, Aquamarine — so a second toy costs the price of the toy rather than the price of a set.

They are also the cheapest way onto this shelf.

Vibrating eggs

The most common shape here by a wide margin. Small, internal, and worn while the remote sits elsewhere. Online remote egg and the size L in a larger size are the straightforward versions; Pretty Love Flirtation adds a slimmer profile.

Many of the products on this page also appear under balls, eggs and bullets, which is the same shape organised by form.

Beyond eggs

A good number of these are also anal toys, which is the second-largest overlap after eggs. If that is what you are looking for, everything here has the flared base or retrieval design that requires.

What to check before buying

  • Range. Stated in metres on most products and rarely tested through walls. Assume less than the number.
  • Battery. Two devices means two batteries. A remote with a dead cell is a toy with no controls.
  • Replacement remotes. Losing the handset can retire the toy. A replacement remote exists for exactly that reason, which tells you it happens.
  • Waterproofing. Many of these are rated fully waterproof; the remotes usually are not.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this and Hi-Tech?

A sizeable group sits on both pages. Hi-Tech is organised around the technology — apps, sensors, pressure waves. This page is organised around one specific feature: that the controls are not where the toy is.

Does it work through a wall?

Radio remotes usually do at short range; the stated distance assumes line of sight. Bluetooth is less reliable through walls than radio.

Can a partner control it from another city?

Only the app-based ones with internet relay, and not all of them offer it. Check the individual product — this is the feature most often assumed and least often stated.

Is it discreet in public?

Quieter than a phone on vibrate, but not silent, and the sound carries more in a quiet room than the descriptions suggest.
