Plain condoms without flavours, textures or added sensations. Three-packs up to boxes of eighty — and the bulk boxes are dramatically cheaper per unit than the small packs.

Fit is the thing almost nobody checks

Condoms are sized by nominal width: the flat width of the condom laid out, in millimetres. Most standard condoms are 52–54 mm. That is an average, and averages fit some people badly.

Too narrow and it feels tight, slips down and is more likely to break. Too wide and it slides off. Both failures are usually blamed on the brand when the number was simply wrong.

The My Size Pro range runs from 47 mm upward — the 60 mm three-pack is the cheapest way to test whether a wider fit is your answer. Mister Size works the same way. Buy a three-pack of two sizes before committing to a box.

Bulk is where the money is

Per unit, the difference is stark. A 12-pack of Pasante works out at roughly three times the price per condom of the 288-unit bag. The Control Nature 144 sits in between.

The only caution: condoms have expiry dates, typically three to five years from manufacture. Buy the quantity you will use in that window.

Storage, and the two things that ruin latex

Heat and friction. A wallet is the classic mistake — body heat plus constant flexing degrades the latex long before the printed date. Keep them somewhere cool and dark, in the original wrapper, and check the date before use.

Oil is the other one. Oil-based products weaken latex, and a weakened condom can fail without visibly tearing. That rules out massage oils, body lotion and petroleum jelly. Use water-based lubricant, or silicone-based if you want something longer-lasting — both are latex-safe.

What plain condoms do and do not do

Used correctly and consistently, condoms are effective at preventing pregnancy and reduce the transmission of most sexually transmitted infections (NHS). "Correctly" is doing a lot of work in that sentence: right size, in date, put on before any contact, held at the base on withdrawal, one at a time — two condoms together increase friction and failure, they do not double protection.

Elsewhere on the condom shelf

Flavoured condoms for oral use, latex-free for allergies, and the full condom range including textured and thin varieties.

What size am I?

Measure the circumference of the erect penis at its widest and divide by two — that gives you an approximate nominal width. Then buy a small pack of the nearest size and check.

Do the assorted packs mix sizes?

No — packs like the Skins Assorted 8 mix types and flavours, not widths. Sizing comes from the My Size and Mister Size ranges.

Is a natural condom thinner?

Not necessarily. "Natural" here means plain latex without flavour, colour or texture. Thin varieties are sold as such separately.

How long do they keep?

Three to five years unopened, stored cool and dark. The date is printed on both the box and each individual wrapper.
