Shimmer massage oils leave a fine metallic or pearlescent finish on the skin, so they are as much about how a body looks in low light as about the massage itself. Bottles are modest, tens of millilitres, because a little covers a lot of skin and more simply looks heavier. They are cosmetics for the outside of the body and should stay there — keep them away from the vulva, the anus and the mouth, and do not use them as a lubricant. Oil and latex do not mix, so these are incompatible with condoms. The shimmer washes off with soap and warm water; it can mark pale sheets, so lay a towel down first. For anything beyond a massage, switch to a proper water-based lubricant.
