Applicators and dispensers put lubricant where it is needed rather than where it lands: a slim tube is filled from the bottle, inserted, and the plunger pushed, which places the gel internally instead of on the outside. Some come pre-filled and disposable, others are refillable and washed between uses. Volumes are small, a couple of dozen millilitres at most, since the point is placement rather than quantity. They earn their keep in anal play, where lubricant applied externally rarely gets far enough in, and for anyone who finds internal dryness the real problem. Fill with a water-based lubricant, which rinses out of the applicator properly; thicker silicone formulas are harder to clean out of a narrow tube.
